How to Configure the Banner Web Part

The banner web part enables you to add an image to act as a "hero image" at the top of a page but with additional options for video and custom messages to appear.

  1. If you're not in edit mode already, click Edit at the top right of the page.

  2. Hover your mouse above or below an existing web part or under the title region and click the plus sign and then select the Banner web part.

  3. Click on the edit pen in the top left corner of the web part to configure it.

  4. The details panel will open on the right, giving you various options to configure.

    Under the Functionality tab, you will see the following:

    1. Background Type: Select what type of background you would like to use:
      1. Image: To link an image via a URL
      2. Video: To link a video via a URL
      3. Solid Colour: To set your banner to be a solid colour

        If selecting Image or Video, you will get additional Position options as shown above.

    Under Appearance you will see the below:

    1. Banner Content: The banner content is so you can add either a Title or a message. You can use tokens in this field to dynamically set the content of the banner. For example, you can use the following tokens: , , , to make it more personal to people who sign in. 
    2. Content Alignment
    3. Text Colour
    4. Show Overlay?: this adds a gentle gradient over the background image, based on the Content Alignment
    5. Is Banner a Link?: if set to On, lets you add a link to the banner
    6. Banner Height: sets the size of the banner
    7. Rounded Corners
  5. Now that the web part has been configured, you can save the page.
  6. When you are ready for your audience to see the page, click Publish.
